When a screen-sharing session is active, an icon will appear on the
right-hand side of the menu bar of the shared computer (see attached
image).  Click "End Screen Sharing" from the corresponding drop-down
menu.

On the sharing/controlling computer, you can also click the circular
"X" icon in the upper-left corner of the small "My Computer" window
which you usually use to switch back and forth between the shared
computer and your own desktop screen.
