Using GFS and empty box that supports it, most SAN's will cost upwards 
of 10k, but all your really getting is some hard drives with a rickity 
server, most of the one I've seen/used run debian... Then you nfs mount 
to the rickity device on your other servers, unless your running a high 
end Distro like RHEL that supports GFS, but I would stick with nfs 
because of it's easy to use nature.

Either way it has the same downsides of NFS, and I would really consider 
it a waste of the dollar for just sessions. Also I Know that Zend's 
Server has Session Clustering Support.
