As per Victor's request:
Software for Starving Students is a free collection of (mostly open
source, but always free as in cost) programs organized for students
(but available to anyone). We've gathered a list of best-in-class
programs onto one CD (one disc for OS X, one for Windows) and created
a friendly user interface (original design by none other than our own
Velda Christensen). A list of what is on each disc can be found at
http://softwarefor.org/faq.html#q0
The point of the project is to get free software into student's hands.
It started out as a BYU-UUG project, but we spun it off a few years
ago. We try to release at the beginning of each semester, which is why
you'll see a message from me again in 4 months. :)
And if this kind of thing interests you, we're working on being able
to publish other types of software collections, too.
Regards,
Dave
