I really recommend the ajax+postgresql approach(feel free to steal my 
javascript code and email me if you want my php).  If your lists are 
going to be short and infrequently updated you can do it with just 
javascript, but the ajax+database is a lot easier to maintain if you are 
going to be making changes.
