Agreed.

One man's dull axe is another man's super death ray. I honestly have  
yet to really test out Python, but having successfully wielded my  
death ray in days past, I find no immediate reason to dump what works  
great for something... that probably works great.

I see your points about namespaces and function naming conventions...  
but I never really run into those issues.
