Well, I think that PHP is evolving, but is it evolving in a good way? They
seem to be just adding on hacks on top of the system (perhaps something they
picked up from the Perl team?).
And it probably isn't fair to compare PHP to any other scripted/interpreted
languages. That doesn't stop people from trying, however. Which is why I
said that perhaps it's better (and much more fair) to compare PHP to
frameworks, rather than the languages said frameworks are built upon.
But I certainly think PHP would benefit hugely from some sort of namespace
scheme. And, most likely, a complete restructure of the language.
