I've enjoyed:

 * Core Web Application Development with PHP and MySQL by Marc Wandschneider
 * Beginning PHP and MySQL 5 by Jason Gilmore

Both are probably available at the PHP library.  Which reminds me... 
Wade, I never wrote a review on these books... is it too late?
