With most web companies they will have some tools that they require you to use.
However, if you are wanting to learn more about IDEs there are a few out there.
Eclipse is my fav as many might know. However, it depends which os you are on
and how much money you are willing to spend on tools. Linux has some nice
development IDEs that are rock solid. For me, eclipse is free and there are some
great plugins that are free and some that cost. You will find with most
development shops that they prefer the corp products.
I would recommend that you pick an IDE that you enjoy and spend more time
focusing on perhaps sharping some skills up for the new position. Please don't
take that the wrong way. I think that there is always something new to learn and
tools to become familiar with. I always encourage people to do more development
and more administration. You can never go wrong with knowing more about the
systems you are developing software to run on.
