Hi All,
I realized recently that I've done all the testing of my website on a
high-speed internet connection, but that many of my visitors are coming from
dial-up connections in South and Central America. I would like to be able to
compress my HTML pages, something like what is described at
http://www.desilva.biz/php/zlib.html. I've read several PHP tutorials that
suggest different methods for HTML compression, but I'm not sure which to
use. I wouldn't worry too much about this decision except that I want to
make sure I use a method that will compress the content in such a way that
Google, Yahoo, and MSN can still crawl my site. My specific questions are:
1) Do you feel that HTML compression is worth it?
2) Would you mind sending me your suggestions on PHP code for
Google/Yahoo/MSN-compatible HTML compression?
Thanks,
Jacob D. Durrant
