[UPHPU] do we need the announcement list?

I am considering retiring the announcement list. Is there anyone that  
is subscribed to the announcement list that is not subscribed to the  
discussion list? Is there anyone that would be bothered by  
announcements going to the general discussion list? Do we need both?
