All I know is that as someone who has been on the other side of the
interview table, I'm not interested in reading any more than one page
and nine out of ten resumes I receive are way too cluttered. If
nothing jumps out and strikes me, I move on. When hiring managers are
wading through mountains of resumes, they don't take the time to walk
through yours with a magnifying glass. I don't care about cover
sheets, where you went on your mission, or if you are an Eagle Scout
[1]. Tell me where you received your degree, the last four places
your worked, a brief list of your skill set and major
accomplishments, and then something unique about you. That's the
person that I would call in for an interview.
[1] Although I am a strong supported of both The Church of Jesus
Christ's mission program and the Boy Scouts of America, I don't think
it needs to be on your resumé.
