zend studio is actually built on top of some the eclipse code. not sure how
much; however, zend and the eclipse community is currently working on a plugin
that should be really good and part of the eclipse core (web i believe).

Most companies want professional software so they can call someone when they
have problems (atleast that has been my experience). Open source is great,
however, sometimes it is driven by individuals and not by the business community
and companies are not really into that as well.
