OK, I'm going to take great exception to that. Adobe is right now
directing most of their development efforts into Flash on Linux. Flash
is the #1 animation technology on the web. It's not going anywhere,
and it's coming to Linux bigtime. It's just that someone has had to
find a way to justify developing it osefor Linux. So they went after
Windows and Apple first, that's just solid business decision-making in
my book.

While the tool itself is proprietary, the export format is not. There
are plenty of open-source projects, and 3rd party products to make
Flash files. You can programmatically create SWF files, even from PHP.
Consider the reason that many videos are now being presented inside
Flash is because the new Flash 8 makes the whole MOV/AVI/RM player
hassles obsolete. No more picking a video file format link, that often
crashes anyway. How is any of that "bad" for the web?

I'm also not going to go to a place where I think a technology is bad
for the web because it's not available on my preferred OS. That sounds
eeirly like a Micro$oft mindset to me. On principle, and to be
consistent, I'm forced to reject that notion out of hand. I like any
technology that's trying to reach out to other OSes, 3rd party
vendors, and open-source.

Animation on the web has a legitmate place, and deserves to be
developed and embraced. Flash is the emerging animation technology
standard. Technology doesn't just stop - for anyone, including
Micro$oft. No matter how you slice it, that's a good thing.
