Oh, and if you want a database with GIS capabilities, MySQL is not the 
way to go.  It supports only a fraction of the OpenGIS functions, cannot 
create spatial indices, and stores it's data only in WKT/WKB.  Go either 
Postgres + PostGIS or Oracle for RDBMS geospatial solutions.  I 
personally love all the analysis functions PostGIS offers.
