I had the opportunity to attend the Austin, TX PHP users group last
week. There were about 12-14 attendees. The meeting was without a
speaker so it was open floor but the pre-meeting call for topics
indicated security was the biggest request (btw where is our mtg on
Chris Schifflett's book ?). The biggest concern was around injection
attacks. Someone mentioned good frameworks should help filter data.
Another discussion suggested a separate web server and data server.

I asked if anyone was using any of the frameworks. One person there is
a contributor to the Zend framework so he was a bit biased, but
interestingly explained how they are concentrating on components to
integrate other services. A couple of people recommended writing your
own framework (argggh, so much time). It's clear that the popularity
and usage of a framework with the Rails community is not transferring
that well to the PHP community.
