This may be the funniest thing I have seen in quite a long time:

Concerning UT County vs. SL County, if you are comparing comparable
companies, using comparable technologies, the salary ranges are close enough
for me to call them "the same".
But, there's more companies in SL County, so your chances of finding 10
companies needing the skills you have will usually result in more of those
companies being North of the "Happy Curtain". I think, if 7 of 10 of those
companies are in SLC, it may feel like SL is paying more... the reality is
that there are simply more SL results in the data set, thereby skewing the
results somewhat.
SLC, however, seems to have a tendency to be on the higher side of the
median though, except for the superstar, standout companies in UT County
that are paying premiums because they actively want to locate local talent
and keep them right here in town and very, very happy.
I will also say, at the same time, that I am constantly surprised by the
pay-rates companies call me asking for when they want to hire low-end
technical positions (read: 'HTML developer'). A fair amount of my time is
spent educating companies on market rates. Nobody wants to be the
cheapskate in town (actually, there are a lot of those out there.. I wish I
could publish that list anonymously) so, if anything else, hopefully I am
helping all of YOU get higher pay-rates, even if they don't end up using my
service.
