No question that these price tags are hefty, and they, of course, have to
come from somewhere.  However, I don't think many of my "big business"
clients would view these fees as money they're "losing in the noise" (I meet
regularly with controllers... they know exactly where each penny is being
spent!).  For some companies, it's an investment in finding the right
candidate while also speeding up the recruiting cycle by leaps and bounds.
I strongly believe the value of the fee is proportionate to the TIME and
ENERGY (and paid salaries) a recruiter may (or may not) save you.  If you
can recruit on your own, or if you have a paid recruiter on staff, then by
all means, insource.  But, watch the ROI if you're not getting the people
you need in a timely manner that allows you to react to your market's needs.
