I just wanted to throw something into this discussion. I've been
following a site called Ask the Headhunter (www.asktheheadhunter.com)
that talks a lot about job hunting, but also deals with the value that
headhunters bring to an organization. In short, a headhunter is only
valuable to a company if they are able to fill difficult-to-fill
(high-end, high-salary) positions with a candidate that perfectly fits
the company's requirements and that the company would not have found
otherwise. Also, most headhunters (according to this guy) have a
one-time placement fee, make nothing if their candidates aren't hired,
and are "competing" with the company's HR department to land someone
in the position.
Just my two cents. There's more good stuff on the site.
