Just to throw out another option, I'm finding fpdf ( http://fpdf.org ) 
to be a great option for creating PDFs. 

I was using the R&OS class that has been mentioned, but decided to 
switch to fpdf due to the lack of development on the R&OS class in the 
past few years and the amount of sample scripts and extensions for fpdf.
