$50,000 - $70,000

Description:
Weber School District is searching for an outstanding web developer to be part of a team responsible for developing innovative, reusable Web-based tools for support of online education, the district web presence, and support of our student system. This is a full-time position. This Web developer works closely with our programming development manager, IT strategists and leadership team, as well as design team members to develop responsive and leading edge web applications and products. Excellent programming skills, some Photoshop skills and database administration are all elements of this position.

Salary commensurate with experience within the scope of Weber District salary schedules.

Responsibilities:
- Work closely with other members of the Development Team to both develop detailed specifications, with clear project deliverables and timelines, and to ensure timely completion of deliverables

- Attend regular collaboration and development meetings during the design and implementation process and during development

- Work with school staff and administrators, as well as Project Managers to build and refine websites and web processes. Skills in Photoshop are a plus, but not required

- Determine appropriate architecture, and other technical solutions, and make relevant recommendations to schools

- Communicate to the Project Manager with efficiency and accuracy any progress and/or delays. Engage in outside-the-box thinking to provide high value-of-service to the team and schools

- Alert colleagues to emerging technologies or applications and the opportunities to integrate them into operations and activities

- Willing to be actively involved in and contribute regularly to development within the Moodle community

- Develop innovative, reusable Web-based tools for online education and student management

Required skills:
- Experience with HTML/XHTML and CSS

- 2 years minimum Web programming experience, primarily PHP, but preferably also ASP, dotNET, JQuery/Javascript

- 1 year minimum experience working with relational database systems such as MySQL, MSSQL or Oracle and a good working knowledge of SQL

- Self-starter with strong self-management skills

- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities

- A collaborative individual with good communication and interpersonal skill is required. Flexibility in accepting and completing assignments is critical.

Required experience:
- BS in Computer Science or a related field, or significant equivalent experience

- Development experience using extensible web authoring tools

- Experience developing and implementing open source software projects

- Limited “real world” job experience will NOT disqualify you for consideration. Ability to code and learn is considered at least as much as experience
