Job Description:
A Designer is responsible for conceptualization and design of graphic  
applications such as collateral material, environmental graphics,  
books and magazines, corporate identity, film titling, multimedia  
interfaces, etc. The Designer produces visual solutions to the  
communication requirements of the FranklinSquires Companies, using a  
mix of creative skills and commercial awareness. Designers require an  
imaginative flair, and awareness of current fashions in the visual  
arts, working knowledge of the latest computer packages and an  
understanding of material costs and time limits, all of which can  
impact on the design. The Designer at FranklinSquires will also  
directly and mentored by the Senior Designer. It is also expected  
that the Designer manage and report their time and efforts for  
multiple projects.

Appropriate medium and styles are selected in conjunction with the  
client's requirements, and by collaborating with the Senior Designer,  
Art Director, and others. By providing quality visuals it is hoped  
the profit margins of the FranklinSquires will increase as potential  
customers become more informed or persuaded by the visual communication.

The main activities of the Designer are:

     * meeting clients to discuss their needs;
     * interpreting the client's business needs;
     * developing design briefs by gathering information and data to  
clarify design issues;
     * thinking creatively to produce new ideas;
     * using innovation to redefine a design brief and meet the  
constraints of cost, time and client;
     * multi-tasking: graphic designers often work on more than one  
design brief at a time;
     * using a wide range of media, including photography and  
computer aided design;
     * producing accurate and high quality work;
     * contributing ideas and design artwork to the overall brief;
     * keeping abreast of developments in design, print, and  
particularly design programs.
     * working well in a team, with printers, copywriters,  
photographers, other designers,
     * account executives, website programmers and marketing  
specialists;
     * working to tight deadlines;
     * reporting to the Senior Designer;

Designers often have to be proactive in presenting their ideas and  
designs to our clients. All designers should maintain their sense of  
creativity by engaging in activities that will engage their hearts  
and minds, in order to keep the creative reservoir filled.

Requirements:
Creative thinker, open to idea exploration
Positive attitude and ability to work well with others in a team- 
oriented setting
Excellent visual design skills and knowledge of page layout,  
typography, and color
A strong understanding of user-center design principles and print  
design best practices
Excellent understanding of standard graphic applications (Photoshop,  
Illustrator, Image Ready, Fireworks, Flash, Dreamweaver, etc.)
Must be results-oriented, customer driven, organized with rigorous  
attention to detail
The ability to manage time effectively, and work on multiple project  
timelines simultaneously in a demanding deadline driven department
Minimum 3 years professional experience
BFA Graphic Design or related field preferred
