We’re famous! Or at least official now, I guess. After trying for several months, UPHPU has finally made it on php.net’s calendar (here and here).
We are pleased to announce our volunteers for the rest of the year. Since there was only one candidate for each position, the actual election portion has been cancelled. We would like to thank the volunteers for offering their service to the group.
Please see ‘about us‘ for their names and links to their profiles.
With the launch of our new website comes many new features that will allow us to better communicate and collaborate. Administration, members, and visitors now have the opportunity to submit and publish articles, reviews, news, links, and announcements through the website. This will allow us to limit the amount of traffic that we will need to use on the mailing list for group business and announcements; leaving it open for what it is intended for: the discussion of PHP, web development, and what we’re working on.
Some of these news features include…
We have added a new section for publishing reviews of books, articles, manuals, and other publications.
Many of you have been asking for a medium to publish articles that you have written or want to write. There is now a section for articles. Have fun.
UPHPU is now offering syndication of our events and stories (news and announcements). Subscribe here.
Hey, all, hope you like the new site. We are glad that we were able to find a CMS that we were happy with. This should get the job done.
We are in the process of porting your accounts over to the new site. Once we are finished, you should be able to log in with your same username and password.
Download Mac’s presentation slides/notes (Microsoft PowerPoint) or view them online.
We are currently accepting nomincations for our 2004 group volunteers. The following positions are available…
We will begin the elections with nominations. If you are the only one that volunteers for a position, then the position is yours (assuming that you have the technical skills necessary to fulfill the required responsibilities); otherwise the candidates will be put to vote by the group.
Nominations for the remainder of the 2004 year will run from Wednesday, 19 May 2004, until midnight Saturday, 22 May 2004. Please email your nominations to “admin@uphpu.org.”
2004 officer elections (if necessary) will then be held from Sunday, 23 May 2004 until midnight, Wednesday, 26 May 2004, through the website.
We look forward to hearing from everyone and encourage you to volunteer. We appreciate the support and service that is being offered by our members and look forward to expanding opportunities to the rest of the group.
